System Overview

Server Information

The Compute server is a multi-processor, UNIX system which is currently open to faculty, staff, and graduate students at the University of Connecticut. It is also available to instructors at the University for use in graduate and undergraduate courses.

    

The operating system is currently AIX Version 5.2. AIX is IBM's UNIX operating system, which is commonly run on RS/6000 machines. The latest releases of AIX support Linux applications that have been ported to the RS/6000 architecture. AIX supports the four most common UNIX shells, ksh, csh, bash and bsh. The compute server is only capable of running software compatible with the RS/6000 architecture.
